When a timer is the better fit
A timed PowerPoint slideshow suits a fixed sequence such as an unattended display or a tightly rehearsed presentation. The next slide follows a duration, not an understanding of what a presenter is saying. If your goal is a looping display without a speaker, speech recognition is unnecessary.
A live discussion has a different constraint: the speaker may pause, answer a question, or skip ahead. Voice-driven navigation responds to spoken instructions or deck-related talking points instead of expecting every slide to take the same amount of time on every run.
Import PowerPoint without rebuilding the deck
Open a .pptx file in Fenot. The app extracts its slide text and speaker notes, and the rendering service converts the slides into flattened visuals for presentation. You can instead pair that PPTX with a PDF or ordered slide images exported from the original presentation.
Exported visuals are useful when your file uses uncommon fonts or complex layouts. Conversion is not identical to running PowerPoint: layout details can vary, and live animations, slide transitions, embedded video playback, and interactive objects are not preserved. Preview the imported result before using it in front of an audience.
For a paired PPTX and PDF, export one slide per PDF page in the same order as the PowerPoint. The files must have the same slide count. Export slides rather than notes pages or multi-slide handouts: whatever appears on a PDF page becomes part of the audience visual. Keep private notes in the PPTX instead.
Choose how your speech changes slides
Context-aware mode compares your transcript with slide text and available PPTX notes. Voice-command mode lets you request a slide directly without having the current topic trigger automatic matches. Neither mode requires you to redesign your slides to match the app's interface.
- Say a next or back command for a linear talk.
- Request a slide number or title when you need a particular destination.
- Use Q&A hold to pause automatic topic matching, then resume when you are ready.
- Keep manual navigation available if recognition or the microphone becomes unreliable.
Frequently asked questions
Does Fenot set slide timings inside my PPTX?
No. The standard workflow imports your deck and navigates the app's audience view. It does not write timed-advance settings back into your original PowerPoint file.
Do I need PowerPoint open while presenting?
Not for the imported-deck workflow. Once the presentation is opened successfully in Fenot, you present from its audience view. Keep PowerPoint available separately if your talk depends on native animations or features the flattened view does not support.
Can I export only a PDF?
Yes. You can present a PDF and match against its extractable text. Include the original PPTX alongside its export when you also want PowerPoint speaker notes available for private reference and speech matching.
Will a question always pause auto advance?
No. Recognized Q&A phrases can pause context navigation, but detection is not a guarantee. Use the explicit hold control whenever you need to keep the current slide on screen.
